Durham Area Transit Authority

Since 1991 Durham Area Transit Authority (DATA) has contracted the bus services in Durham, North Carolina, USA.

Contracts are let for five years. The fixed route system includes 165 employees and 43 buses transporting 13,000 people daily on 19 different bus routes. The paratransit system includes 43 vans and 57 employees transporting clients to various places within the City of Durham.

DATA operates 50 full-sized vehicles on 19 routes requiring a PVR of 37. Most of these are of Gillig manufacture and are dual-door low-floor. Fleet livery is white with red and blue striped relief. Bicycle racks are fitted to the front of all buses.

Flat fare system US$1, $2 for unlimited one-day pass, seniors free.

Most routes depart/arrive at the Downtown Terminal at the top of the hour and every half hour from 5:30 a.m. through 12:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday and from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sundays. The only time DATA is not in service is on Christmas.
