Durban High School

Durban High School or D.H.S. is a public high school for boys located on the Berea in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
The school was founded in 1866 and currently has roughly 1,400 enrolled students (including a small boarding establishment) and almost 70 teachers.
There is also a related primary school called Durban Preparatory High School (D.P.H.S.).
There are six houses namely: Swales, Grice, Langley, Campbell, Payn, and Blackmore(the boarders' house).It was originally held in the 'Mansion House' on Smith Street. The first enrolled was a boy called Eben Coakes and he was the first headboy. Famous past pupils ("Old Boys") include: Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, Lord Mayor of London Sir Gavyn Arthur, Cabinet Minister Alec Erwin, cricketers Lance Klusener and Hashim Amla, and scientists Philip Tobias and Aaron Klug.
