Dunnite

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dunnite, also known as Explosive D or Ammonium picrate was developed by Major Dunn in 1906 and was used extensively by the US Navy during World War I.

Dunnite is a relatively insensitive explosive, which meant it was useful for armour piercing shells due to the fact that it exploded only after the shell had actually pierced the armour.

Dunnite should not be confused with the mineral Dunite.
