"Dune Buggy" was the second episode of the first season of the Nickelodeon television series Drake & Josh. The episode first aired on January 18, 2004.
[edit] Plot summary
One of Drake's friends, Trevor, gives him a dune buggy, but is in bad shape and hardly runs. Drake and Josh spend time fixing it up.
Later, Josh throws a pillow at Drake and accidentally spills a glass of soda on top of the television set. The soda causes the TV circuits to explode. Josh doesn't want to get in trouble, so Drake tells him to lie about the incident. However, when their mother, Audrey, questions him later, Josh confesses to what really happened to the television and is grounded for lying.
Drake and Josh get the dune buggy running, but their parents refuse to let them take it for a test drive. They believe it would be too dangerous, as the dune buggy is not safe and the boys don't have their driver's licences. Drake tries to persuade Josh to take a ride in the dune buggy without permission, but Josh is afraid of getting caught and getting in more trouble.
Drake and Trevor decide to take the dune buggy out, but only make it a short distance before crashing into a tree. Drake winds up in the hospital, and tries to disguise his injuries so Josh and his parents don't find out know what happened.
Josh answers the phone to discover that Drake left his wallet in the emergency room and that's when he notices the wrecked dune buggy. He then goads Walter into teaching him wrestling moves on Drake, knowing that his brother is injured.
Meanwhile, Drake and Josh had a little chat together in their room. Josh says that he had it enough of Drake getting away from his troubles. Drake tries to argue and disagree with Josh, but seems that everything Josh is saying is right. Before Josh left, he says that he will stay grounded and fix the dune buggy himself, while Drake keeps getting away from getting punished, since "that is the only thing you're [Drake] good at."
Drake admits to his family that he took out the dune buggy without their permission and got into an accident. Josh is excited that Drake finally gets grounded, but Drake doesn't learn a lesson. Josh is forced to bring him pizza, and he spends his days in bed resting and playing guitar.
