[edit] Biblical Literalism
Hey Dulc, question for you... Have you ever heard the term literalist being used in theological publications? There's a heated discussion right now that could use more knowledgable input. It centers around the doctrine of biblical inerrency and the term biblical literalism (which is the belief that all parables are literal). I don't think the view actually exists, but nonetheless. Take a look here Biblical literalism and then help the discussion on the delete page if you could. It looks like an attempt to consfuse the topic of inerrency for the sake of making people who believe in inerrency look stupid. Also, there's no real documentation on the issue so I'm trying to kill it. Peace. --Home Computer 22:05, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- This does confuse the issues of Biblical Inerrancy/Infallibility, but I'm afraid that a separate belief of Biblical Literalism does exist. This is a form of extremism, going well-beyond inerrancy and infallibility. Biblical Literalism is what's addressed in Matthew 13 and Mark 4. John 3 also sheds some light on this subject, as Nicodemus initially took a parable literally. While inerrancy and infallibility are nearly identical and widely-accepted forms of hermeneutics; literalism is completely different. In fact, the Biblical positions of inerrancy and infallibility outright reject literalism, based largely on the Scripture referred to above. -- Dulcimerist 17:21, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
