Duke Ganote is a well-known iconoclast and thorn in the side of the establishment. The U.S. 55-mph speed limit was imposed a month before he took his driver's education course. He believed the government's assertions about the wonders of 55 -- until he spent a year in Germany in 1981-1982, came back, and researched the actual safety record of the Autobahn. Then he realized he'd been hoodwinked and bamboozled by those using his own tax dollars -- and boy was he steamed! Being (then) young and single, he devoted a lot amount of time to eliminating the 55-mph limit in the Ohio (rather successfully).
His other interests include dispensational theology (he finds it more satisfactory than any other attempts he's read at interpreting the Bible).
He also spends a lot of time learning about Oracle databases, because his current occupation is Data Modeler / Architect. He spends a lot of time at http://asktom.oracle.com. Gainfully employed, but mercenary, Mr Ganote is available for hire at exorbitant rates!
His (cobweb) site is at http://www.dma.org/~ganotedp/
On the respectable side, he's a licensed engineer in the State of Ohio, and holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and a master's from the Ohio State University.
