Duel (artist)

Duel (born 1969) is a Melbourne-born, Australian graffiti artist and break dancer,(John Williams).

Starting out painting trains and walls in the 1980s, Duel was one of Australia's earliest accomplished graffiti artists.

He featured in the 1994 television Australian documentary, Sprayed Conflict by producer/director Robert Moller which appeared at a number of Australian film festivals and was released on video and later on DVD.

In the 1990s Duel won a Victorian state award for a commissioned wall mural and made several television appearances for spray art and break dancing on Australian television. His massive sculptural wall art pieces have appeared in exhibitions and businesses around Melbourne.

Together with his B-boy troupe, he won in the Melbourne Extreme Games in 2000.

His graffiti murals have been compared with famous contemporary Puerto Rican artist and architect, Rafael Villamil.
