[edit] Plots
[edit] Duck!
When Grim has a good night's dream, he summons a phantom duck which wears a World War I German helmet and can make farting noises with its tongue. The Duck terrorizes Endsville by making farting noises and landing everyone in jail as it is believed that they are the ones who farted. The Duck then decided to go after Mandy. However, Mandy is able to make the duck leave after the first day. Gets in trouble with the principal for supposedly "making farting noises over the intercom" which was really the duck. Mandy got repeated detentions and ends being the one farting at the episode's end.
[edit] Aren't You Chupacabra To See Me?
Grim and Mandy grow tired of watching the same movie over and over. They went to the underworld video store to rent a new movie. When Billy watched the cassette alone, the Chupacabra popped out of the television, and tried to suck the life out of him. Billy wanted to keep it as a pet.
[edit] End Credits
An obnoxious man picks up his ringing phone in a theatre and begins to say "blah, blah, blah-blah blah, blah..." etc. very, VERY loudly. The duck blows raspberries and the man says (very, VERY loudly), "I'll have to call you back in another theatre, someone is being VERY rude in here!"
[edit] Trivia
- In Duck! marks the first appearance of Principal Goodvibes.
[edit] Cultural References
- Irwin's new dachshund is named Oscar. This is a reference to the Oscar Mayer company, which is famous for its hot dogs. Oscar is the second dog that Irwin has been seen walking, the first being an unnamed pug in Get Out of My Head!.
- Grim pulled the Labbie video out of the VCR using the force the same way a Jedi Knight does to grab the lightsaber from Star Wars.
- The way Daisy the chupacabra emerges from the television is similar to the horror movie, The Ring, where a ghost that haunts the video tape emerges from the TV to claim her victim.
- Labbie is a spoof of the movie about a heroic dog from the first movie Lassie. Both of them have the same boy named Timmy.
- At the sight of the Chupacabra sucking on Billy's head, Mandy says "Poor thing's gonna starve." This line is very similar to one in Futurama, where after a brain slug (which feeds on brains) died after staying on the empty head of Fry. Professor Farnsworth examaines it and says "The poor thing starved to death".
- "Duck!" includes a reference to the song "Once in a Lifetime" by the band Talking Heads when Grim realizes that he's married to a dragon, he exclaims "This is not my beautiful house... This is not my beautiful wife!" Billy wakes him up from his dream by yelling "Same as it ever was!" constantly.
[edit] Continuity Problems
- Hector Con Carne, Boscov, General Skarr and Cod Commando from "Evil Con Carne" make a cameo appearance in "Duck!". Skarr was waring the same uniform he did in Evil Con Carne, but why is he wearing the same uniform if he no longer works there? He should have his pink shirt. Major Doctor Ghastly never made her cameo appearance.
