The Trinity Publications Committee, known informally as Pubs, is an independent capitated body of Dublin University. It publishes Trinity News, a broadsheet newspaper, Icarus, a literary magazine, Miscellany, a social & political commentary, and Piranha!, a satirical journal throughout the academic year. A new travel magazine called In Transit began in 2006.
Pubs aims to promote knowledge of, and interest in, publishing and media among students in Trinity College, Dublin.
The Publications Committee consists of an annually elected executive, and the editor of each publication. Titles have a large degree of freedom to report and comment on College and external events. The Publications Committee enjoys links with the national media and offers journalism workshops. Publishing and related activities are financed through a grant from the College capitation committee and selling advertising space.
