Dub War were a four-piece Metal band from Newport, South Wales, UK. Formed in 1993, the band offered an innovative mix of metal, punk, and ragga, inheriting the punk-reggae legacy of The Clash and Bad Brains. Their lyrics were thoughtful and idealistic drawing comparisons with former, though musically they were closer to the hard rock sound of the latter. Some fans consider the band to have been pioneers of the new genre, ragga metal.
The Dub War experience was short-lived as the band split in 1999. This separation resulted from disputes with their label, Earache Records.

[edit] Skindred
In mid-1999 Benji and Dan Pugsley started a new band, Skindred. Soon former Dub War members Jeff and Ginge also joined the band.
This incarnation of the band released only a single album Babylon (2002) before Jeff and Ginge both left in late 2002. This was due to their mistreatment by the record label RCA.
Nevertheless, Benji and Dan continue as Skindred to this day. A second album is due in early 2007.
[edit] Raw Bud
Jeff, Ginge and Richie continue to work together on a new project: Raw Bud.
