Dub (wheel)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A dub is a wheel or rim that is 20 inches in diameter. The term dub is a slang term for twenty. Some can be chrome or polished aluminum-alloy. Rims that are below 20 inches in diameter are referred to as sub-dubs, though this term maybe regional. Dubs are now often 22 inches in diameter, but can be even larger all the way to 28's and 30's.
The song Throw Some D's by the Alabama rapper Rich Boy refers to the act of having dubs, or d's, installed on a new car, such as the cadillac the song talks about.. The term "D" is short for dub and the song glorifies the importance of having a fresh whip (see Unique Whips or ghost riding.)
DUB Magazine, a popular automotive enthusiast magazine, takes its name from the term and covers material chiefly pertaining to urban vehicles and the people that own them. The magazine often features celebrities and their vehicles.
