Dsp (group)

- The correct title of this article is dsp (group). The initial letter is shown capitalized due to technical restrictions.
"dsp" is an experimental electronic music collective originally from Canada.
Formed in the late eighties, it released cassette compilations of tape loops, found sound constructions, results of circuit bending, and ambient music from homemade synthesizers.
As the name implies, their music is heavily dependent on digital signal processing equipment. In the nineties as computers became more powerful they became less reliant on off-the-shelf DSP processing equipment and wrote custom DSP software.
Currently their releases are internet-only, often through Bit Torrent.
