[edit] Exchange rate template
Hi,
I am the creator of the exchange rate template. I see that you have an interest in updating the exchange rate template. I'm not sure is it because you're interest in currencies, or you believe the British pound is significant enough to be on the exchange rate section of all currencies? Anyway, if pound sterling is to be included globally, then the Japanese yen must be too. After all the economy of Japan is bigger than that of the U.K. So I'm proposing the following: The exchange rate must include USD, EUR, JPY, and GBP. The first two must be USD and EUR, but the ordering between the two depends on the importance in trade, from the perspective of the currency in question. The same applies on JPY and GBP.
Btw, "British pound" redirects to "Pound sterling". It is generally better to avoid redirects. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 12:02, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the message and for letting me use your template. I do have an interest in currencies but I also think that the pound is significant enough to be on the exchange rate section of all currencies. The main reasons are:
Major trade currency 3rd reserve currency behind USD and EUR (and increasing in importance as central banks diversify) The highest valued OECD currency.
As to the positioning of the rate, I didn't stick to any specific order. I thought about doing it in the order of the base rate hierarchy (2nd), reserve states (3rd) or Economic status (4th) but generally I put it in 3rd position.
I found out that British Pound redirects to Pound sterling but I was copying and pasting so I didn't bother to change it.
Thanks for the message, and let me know what plans you have. As a additional point, the Yen wasn't on all the tables so you'll probably have to add it to around half of them.
- By thw e way, I find that you have the habit of capitalizing currency unit. In fact, because it's just a unit, not a proper name, it should be lower case. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 10:10, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
I wans't talking about [[British Pound|GBP]]. I'm talking about the text. I've seen one of those, but I just can't find one now. Also, even for the case like [[British Pound|GBP]], avoiding capitalised unit usually means bypassing redirect, and that means reducing server load. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 23:11, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
