Dryad (Callie Betto) is a fictional character appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Weir, she first appeared in New X-Men: Academy X #1.

[edit] Fictional character biography

Dryad was raised by her father after her mother died. Knowing she was a mutant her father supported her and when she enrolled at the Xavier Institute, he followed becoming the school's grounds keeper[issue # needed].

Dryad is a member of the Corsairs, along with Specter, Quill and the Stepford Cuckoos, who leads the team. However, after Scarlet Witch's actions of M-Day Dryad is depowered and boards a bus with other depowered students leaving the Xavier Institute. She is killed when William Stryker fires a missile at the bus, blowing it up, killing the depowered students aboard.[issue # needed]

Dryad has the mutant ability to manipulate plant life, as well as communicating with plants. She can use her powers to make plants grow or follow her commands. After Decimation, Dryad loses her powers.
