[edit] I-Ming Chen

I-Ming Chen, or better known by his online monikers of DrSlump or Roddd, is a geeky Chinese-American. His name is often mispronounced due to the English romanization. The correct way is ee-ming, which is how it sounds in Chinese (Mandarin). Born in Tainan, Taiwan on February 17, 1978, his family moved around his native Tainan until his parents decided to make the move to the United States in 1983.

While he was young, his parents relocated the family all around southern California. He has resided in Los Angeles, Buena Park, Fountain Valley, and Encinitas.

In 1996, he graduated from San Dieguito High School (now San Dieguito Academy, a magnet school) and went to Los Angeles to study at UCLA. He never adapted to the quick pace of college and thus failed many classes. After a decade of going through university and community college, he eventually graduated with a degree in Computer Science & Engineering in 2006.

[edit] His Interests

I-Ming's interests vary greatly from Japanese animation to popular science. Being an engineer at heart, he had always tinkered with things and attempted to discover how things worked. This fascination for how things work mechanically has been his sole motivation in doing anything.

He also has an interest in music and attempted to teach himself to play an electronic keyboard.

[edit] Personality

When I-Ming was young, he was quite pampered and developed a selfish disposition. This led to many bouts of wild tempers and created his inferiority complex. As he grew older and learned to behave himself, he modeled himself after pure-hearted nice guys and learned to have patience. Unfortunately, as an introvert, he has had very little contact with people and often is clueless what to do in social situations.

Being such a technical guy, I-Ming is a perfectionist at heart. He often demands the same dedication from others which leads to personality conflicts and arguments. While he has good intentions and is always trying to do things for the greater good, people often do not always share the same view. He has a great dislike for routines and is always trying to look for a way to automate things. People often think he is just being lazy, but in reality he is just trying to make his time more efficiently used instead of working on boring, tedious tasks.
