[edit] Use of schedule in GMTV

Hi there

I noticed that you added a schedule to the GMTV article (diff). Sadly I had to revert the edit you made for the following reasons:

  • If you have taken a schedule from a website, they are copyrighted and the schedule could be in violation of copyright policy.
  • Under schedule 17 of the Broadcasting Act 1990, it is illegal under UK law to publish a schedule for BBC One, BBC Two, ITV1 (including all regions and GMTV) or Channel 4 without paying a royality to Broadcasting Dataservices (BDS). And I quote:
The programme summaries are the subject matter of copyright. The information may only be reproduced pursuant to a licence issued by the copyright owner or pursuant to the statutory licence set out in Schedule 17 of the Broadcasting Act 1990. This ruling affects BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Channel 4 terrestrial channels only. Broadcasting Dataservices is the agent of BBC Worldwide, the ITVA companies and Channel 4 in the matter of issuing copyright licences and collecting copyright fees.

More information on this matter can be found here: Wikipedia talk:Copyright problems#Potential legal issue with UK Radio station schedules within articles.

Apologies for reverting your changes. Please refrain from adding schedules to articles in the future. Thank you. --tgheretford (talk) 19:05, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Please note, the other edits you made to the article were fine and I kept them in the article. --tgheretford (talk) 19:05, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
