Driel

Driel is a small village located in the municipality of Overbetuwe near Arnhem in the Netherlands. Located approximately 4 km southwest of Arnhem, and on the south side of the Rhine, the countryside surrounding Driel was the drop zone on 21 September 1944 of the Polish 1st Independent Parachute Brigade which participated in Operation Market Garden under the command of Maj. Gen. Stanislaw Sosabowski.
