Inara George was raised in Topanga Canyon, the daughter of Little Feat guitarist and songwriter Lowell George. Though her father died of heart failure when she was only five, Inara grew up around the music of her father's peers: Van Dyke Parks, Terry Allen, and her godfather, Jackson Browne.

Inara's first career choice was theater. Her early years were spent performing Shakespeare at Topanga's Theatricum Botanicum, later going to college in Boston to study classical theater acting.

At age 19, George and some friends from high school started the band Lode. They were signed to Geffen Records, and released 1996's Legs & Arms before breaking up. Later, she formed another band, Merrick, with her collaborator Bryony Atkinson.

[edit] Fucking hell

The German version already has a lengthy article on her.
