Dred Scott, plaintiff in the infamous en:Dred Scott v. Sanford case at the Supreme Court of the United States

Painted by Louis Schultze, commissioned by a "group of Negro citizens" and presented to the Missouri Historical Society, St. Louis, in 1882.

See [1]. This is not a contemporary painting. This was done decades after his death.
