Dressing room (theater)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A dressing room is a part of a theater which gives performers space to get into costume and make-up. There are commonly a male and female dressing room, and often also special 'star' dressing rooms. Dressing rooms generally feature a large number of switchable outlets for accessories like hair dryers, straightening irons, and curlers. They also feature many mirrors which are often lighted. Sinks are present for removal of makeup, and sometimes a dressing room will even have showers and restrooms attached. Lockers, or costume racks are generally used for storage of costumes. In some performances, dressing rooms are used as a secondary green room because of space limitation or noise, especially by performers with long breaks between stage appearances.
