"Dreams on the Rocks" is a first season episode of the television show Strangers with Candy. In it, Jerri must deal with her mother's alcoholism, which is a response to her being cast in the lead role of "A Raisin in the Sun." The episode first aired on April 21, 1999.

  • None of the lines performed in the play are from A Raisin in the Sun; however, the show did obtain the rights to use Langston Hughes' poem, " A Dream Deferred", which Stephen Colbert recites before the dance sequence.
  • Amy Sedaris is afraid of snakes and mice. Those are not her hands throwing the mouse to Leslie.
  • The dance during the end credits comes from the Yardstick Boys, a comedy troupe which Paul Dinello and Greg Holliman (Principal Blackman) were in together in the late 1980s.
