dream is an all-female J-pop chorus group which made its debut in 2000 with the single "Movin' on." The original group (first generation) consisted of the harmonizing voices of three females: Mai Matsumuro, Yu Hasebe and Kana Tachibana.

dream consisted of those three members until July 7, 2002 when Matsumuro graduated to a solo career. Six new younger members joined the group, which allowed people to draw comparisons between the "new dream" and another Japanese pop group, Morning Musume. dream remained an 8-member dance & chorus group until the graduation of member Risa Ai on March 28, 2004.

[edit] Other

The group formed from the dream 2000 audition, produced by Max Matsuura (now president of avex group holdings).

dream was responsible for the song "My Will," the first ending theme of the anime InuYasha, of which Mai Matsumuro wrote the lyrics. The visual for the ending has a feminine flair, featuring the trio of the three leading female characters (Kagome, Kikyo, and Sango), influenced by the fact that dream was at the time also an all female trio.

The current second generation group now has seven members.
