Yes, welcome. Appreciated your contrite comment on VfD about Googli-whatsiname, thank you and sorry about the rabbit. I actually didn't think any of your comments were inappropriate, sorry in some ways if you took mine as criticism, it wasn't meant that way. But I think the result has been good in terms of building the team to write the encyclopedia, and I tend to be goal-driven so that pleases me and I'll accept a few ruffled feathers along the way.
You've jumped right in, which is great. Hang in there, and feel free to drop me a line on my user talk page if you think I can help with anything. (How's that for a blank cheque?) Andrewa 02:35, 10 May 2004 (UTC)

[edit] How to revert
I just fixed Johann Nepomuk Huber, thanks for pointing out the vandalism. Reverting is really easy, though, so if you find something else that's been vandalized here's how to do it yourself:
- click "page history"
- click the link to the version of the article from immediately before the vandalism took place - the last "good" version.
- from that version, click on the "edit this page" link. You'll be taken to an ordinary edit window with the contents of the old version in it, but with a warning at the top that you're editing an out-of-date version. In this case editing an out-of-date version is a good thing, so don't worry about the warning.
- without making any changes to the article text, add an edit summary such as "reverting vandalism" and click on the "save page" button.
This replaces the vandalized text of the article with the pre-vandalism version. Make sure to use this power only for good and never for evil, and you're all set. :) Bryan 00:49, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] About Robert Baltovich
I saw you edited Robert Baltovich saying 'it turns out somebody else did it'. This is what Baltovich says and it might be true, but as far as I've read, no court has ever decided this, so I've reverted to the previous content. Saforrest 23:16, Dec 2, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
[edit] Disambiguation
When you want to replace an article (on, say, Christopher Priest) with a disambiguation page, the usual thing is to move the article to its new location first, and then put the disambiguation page where the article used to be. --Paul A 04:37, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Comics
I notice you and Paul A cleared up the Priest/Owsley matter. Nice work -- I noticed that a while ago and was hoping somebody would get to it! [edit] Trines
I have noted your comments about a grand trine being interpreted as a flaw in the judicial system. The article is not intended to be political. Because astrology is for the most part poo poo ed in the west, I really don't think that the court's are employing astrologers to look at people's charts and throw people in jail just because they have a grand trine or any other aspect for that matter. The comment about the grand trine was meant to point out the fact that although trines are supposed to be really good, there are some instances when they are not so good because they cause people to not want to apply themselves, and they subsequently fall foul of the law.
I have had the misfortune of having some really nasty emails sent to me just because I have made a mistake, so I am trying to be fair. Are you an astrologer? What qualifications do you have to make a statement such as grand trines indicate flaws in the judicial system? If you have studied astrology or the judical system, and more specifically the impact that astrology has on the judical system then perhaps you are right in making such a post.
My point is that astrology is not a game and it is not something that people can make a mockery of. Editing an article is one thing, as I read from your bio that you are really into editing, but you should not change the context of the article just becuase you want to make it flarier. Because of the sentence you put in, you are close to making it seem like astrologers are a bunch of kooks who thinks that grand trines are related to injustices in the judicial system.
Do you have a special interest in injustice in the judicial system? Do you know someone who has been hard done by and you want to bring to light his plight?
The article is about astrology. It is not about flaws in the judicial system.
I have made a slight modification to your statement, but I would ask that you seriously think about your statement. Do you think that a statement about the judicial system is appropriate in the article? Do you really think that a link to flaws in the judical system is appropriate to that article?
As an alternative, you might want to find a person who has been a victim of a miscarriage of justice and then do an astrological profile on that person. I think that would be more appropriate for inclusion in another article.
It is really easy to edit. It is much more difficult to come up with original, creative work.

I'd rather wait until the vfd has run its course and the current article is deleted - no need to keep the advert in the edit history. Xoloz 08:33, 10 July 2005 (UTC)" My opinion, generally, is that the article is poo. The theory is probably also poo, but, in any case, the article has a heavy burden of persuasion to bear, and it fails that badly. [edit] Do me a favor
Judging what a consensus is with vfds is very difficult. Just because someone is voting anonomously does not mean that they are a sockpuppet. My decision was that it was not a consensus. I stand by it. Even if some of those votes were by sockpuppets, I'm still not sure that it was a consensus. 65/70% isn't necessarily a consensus in my book. I'm sorry that you disagree with my decision, but since it is probably going to end up as a delete and redirect anyway, I'm not sure what the issue is here. I was essentially told that once a vfd closes, it's anything goes if the vote was for consensus. So I have no say in the matter. --Woohookitty 04:29, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

I think you may have cut back the stuff I wrote about Teonaht a bit too much - there's no remaining information on the background of the language, and it's basically just been reduced to a link page. Would you consider reinstating a bit, so that the article is a bit more useful? I'd like it to give the casual reader some reason why they would want to follow the link. For the record, I'm a conlanger, and know Sally Caves a bit through mailing lists. I think that Teonaht (which Sally has been working on for many years) is an impressive body of work. My own work has not been mentioned anywhere on wikipedia, but I'd be immensely flattered if anyone thought it worth the effort to do so. [edit] The God Who Wasn't There VFD
You know, I really resent your attempt to dump the blame for the sockpuppets' anger onto me for the crime of making an absolutely bog-standard nomination to VfD. By any reasonable criteria, the article is VfD-worthy, and you could have stated it that way or some other neutral way instead of helping feed their paranoia and fanaticism. --Calton | Talk 08:47, August 2, 2005 (UTC)
Strange things have been happening with the God who Wasn't There page. Sometimes I get confused as to who is doing what. There were a lot of strange edits to the discussion on the VfD page and someone edited my entry as well as several others. The logs made it look like you did it, but now the history logs are changed, which confuses me. Clearly there is an effort by people to block this. Taking a deep breath - striving for self control. --Marcperkel 20:07, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
- My apologies for anything I've confused. I ended up moving a lot of votes around when I underwent the effort to note the anonymous and sockpuppet users. Why the heck do you guys keep trying to delete the CartooNOVEL page?
There is a bonafide media source and is a valid addition to Wikipedia. The newspaper this article was published in is the 2nd largest English daily in Malaysia and serves 429,000 readers a month, google it and see. So now close to half a million people have been exposed to the term CartooNOVEL. I am simply documenting a historical fact.
You guys keep messing up the page layout as well, please have some consideration for the work of others.

[edit] Ancestry
I was quite careful with my phrasing in my edits to the Otherkin article - I do acknowledge your efforts to have this be as NPOV as possible. However, you will note that, by using the active mode rather than passive ("they trace their ancestries" rather than "their ancestries can be traced"), the validity of these genealogies is neither supported nor refuted. "They trace", rather than "they CAN trace", you see? DS 17:29, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
- The word "trace" isn't at all the same as "claim" -- "trace" implies that they can follow the trail of ancestors step by step to an actual nonhuman one. Trace is active and implies reality. If it's not real then trace wouldn't work, so by saying trace you were saying it is real. That's highly POV, which is why it was removed by myself and another editor (after Gabriel/Gavin blind reverted it). DreamGuy 02:33, August 16, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Re : Abby Hayes
Hi DragonflySixtyseven,
The article in question was originally tagged for speedy deletion, but I decided to list it for VFD because I thought it was doubtful that it falls under the criteria for speedy deletion. (that's the purpose of VFD isn't it? :) ).
I do admit that I only just briefly read the article. Looking at the VFD process for Abby Hayes I think it should be a rather solid keep by now, so I think there's no need for any further action (just wait for the lag time to run out in approx. a week). I didn't cast a vote, so there's no vote for me to change anyway. (Most nominators including me state reasons but don't cast a vote).
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask on my talkpage.
- Best regards, Mailer Diablo 13:45, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

- Wonderful, I could lay hands on some information [1]. The wall belonged to Gurudwara Rikabgunj, an important and historical shrine of the Sikhs. When some portions of New Delhi was being rebuit during the British Raj, it seems a portion of the wall of that Gurudwara was demolished, which must have created all the unrest. --Bhadani 16:49, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Exclusive Interview with Mister Dressup
Well, the parody may not be notable for the band, if they do a lot of that. So, feel free to delete it. But, I really, don't see value added, to going to each of this band's subject's and putting a note about such a song, when it had no known impact on the subject. Somebody reading about a band, may wish to know what songs they've song. But, I doubt somebody reading Mr. Dressup cares about the band and definately not sample lyrics. I think these kinds of mentions set a bad precident, since any band, no matter how small, can get a mention on some famous person or show's article, just by a mention of them. It sounds like the Beachcombers and Gilligan's island are the next articles to be effected by this. Now, if a hugely famous bands mention of a show, is the most common reason the public-at-large knows of a show, than that would be worth a mention (on both articles). Sometimes songs make things famous. But, this isn't such a case. I'm sure Mr. Dressup inspired lots of minor singers and entertainers, to do and say lots of things, but they don't all deserve mention. Plus, you seem to admit this was no big deal for the band, so it was certainly no big deal for Mr. Dressup. --rob 17:43, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- The wording I removed didn't say anything about a tribute, which seems like the *only* basis for mentioning it. The words "have you ever killed a man" didn't make me think of a "tribute". I suggest putting this on the Mr Dressup talk page, and seeing if anybody else heard of this, and thinks it signficant to Mr. Dressup. If anybody (just one) person agrees with you, I'll respect that, and not delete it again (maybe reword a bit, but not delete); despite the bad taste of lyrics and their placement. --rob 19:57, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

- Sorry about the double posting. My computer told me that neither went through. It's been that sort of a day. Carptrash 21:21, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
- So, Ms. 67: I am wondering if you have read any of the Icelandic Sagas recently? If you had you might have realized that "all the details of the family tree" [or however you put it] are an important component of virtually all of them. If you'd like to put this issue to a vote of all the Icelanders on wikipedia that would be fine with me. It has taken me a long time to convince a particular Icelandic octogenarian who possesses a wealth of knowledge in all sorts of areas to contribute here. First I had to prove to him that wikipedia was a place for serious scholars and not just a place frequented by cranks and teenage vandals. Eventually, over about a year that was accomplished. Now I am having to start all over again because someone [not a teenage vandal, or a crank either, I suspect] wants to . . . . . . . . ....... to what? I mean, the entry has Canadian content and everything. Carptrash 02:38, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
- Good a.m., Dragonfly Sixty Seven. Sorry about the gender thing. Also, I frequently take liberties with other folks labels and am occasionally found in drag myself so it was not intended as an insult. Thanks for the oversight that you do in checking out new articles. I probably could imagine what some of them might be like, but would rather not. I do hope that should a relative or two reappear in the Einar H. Kvaran piece that you might find it in your heart to approach it in the spirit of a cross-cultural experience. Life is supposed to be fun, and so is wikipedia. Carptrash 14:34, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/JDizzle Comics
Hello, you voted on this VfD which I had accidentlally pasted Gillian Slovo instead of JDizzle Comics. I cleared all votes in order to remove any bias because of my stupidity so please vote again knowing that it is about JDizzle Comics. Sorry and thanks. gren グレン 21:31, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] More on EHK
I have been off line a lot recently - both to wikipedia and to the octo - but will look around. One thing about 80 year olds is that they move at their own pace, so it's hard to say what will happen next. However I will make sure that he is aware of your note, which I am guessing is in the EHK discussion page. Thanks DF67. Carptrash 17:12, 9 September 2005 (UTC) .
[edit] Animality
Well, it was nonsense as originally written. Adding a little clue that this was a games thing made it not so :-)
Thanks for the cleanup. Tonywalton | Talk
[edit] Turnips
I've speedied the page as an attack and the images as utterly useless and part of an attack page. Not strictly within the CSDs for images, but I'll cite a little WP:IAR in my defence if it comes to it. Watch the page and the images for recreations and buzz me if they need protecting against recreation or something. The things people will do! -Splash 18:05, 11 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Beaches of Penwith
Hi DF,
Thanks for your message about the "Beaches of Penwith" category. It is my intention to complete the pages with text as well as photos. I will be adding text as soon as I can. It seems a little hasty to speedy delete the pages. Is there some kind of "under construction" tag, or "this article needs expanding" that I can use, possibly also a way to leave a comment as to my plans?? What do you suggest?
Cheers
Tom --84.92.138.170 18:17, 11 September 2005 (UTC)
I've started to add stub text to the pages. When I get a chance I'll add a stack more text to the pages. It just takes me a long time to write... --84.92.138.170 09:22, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] re: Objectionable Usernames
Yes, I think you are a little too paranoid (I wonder if he is related to Helen Hunt... oh never mind...) Zzyzx11 (Talk) 00:43, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Creating other peoples user pages
Please don't do this. A user page is (within loose limits) a users own domain, and they have a right not to have one. By creating peoples user pages, you are denying them this right. --Kiand 15:41, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Vitamin
The term I used was merely to signify that it was a photogenic chemical derived from the "irridated" form, Ultraviolet irridation if I remember correctly. At any rate, it would probably be better to have a more descriptive name than just "irridated 7-dehydrositosterol", but I do not know the biochemistry enough to find a name for the chemical and I have long forgotten the original link I used.

[edit] DYK
Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Nicolas-Charles Bochsa, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page. |
[edit] Hello, back
Not sure how you do everything here yet, but yes I am one of the people from Byrne Robotics, but all I want is a fair shake; if you'll notice, I didn't remove the returned expanded biography (and didn't edit it, although I did call for the same.) Nothing to fear from me. LightningMan 04:02, 16 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Stepanakert
Bold is fine, but if you'd checked the talk page, you'd have seen that the clear consensus was to merge under Stepanakert as that is the name used by the current controlling power. The main thing that kept me from doing so myself earlier was the lack of a map showing things from the Armenian POV instead of the Azeri. Since the merge has been done, I rewrote the article to be Stepanakert centric and reset the redirects to point there instead
[edit] Triangle
I believe in that case I was referring to the fact that the article's most compelling or notable data was buried in the end, instead of in the opening line. My remark was a reference to a newspaper practice of placing a story's most weighty or remarkable feature in the first line, and in each successive line, including other data in order of what is most compelling. This creates the effect of an upside=down triangle -- with the smallest point at the bottom, and the weightiest part of the triangle at the top. paul klenk 20:20, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Trimethylaluminum
Can you please provide a reference/link that gives the proper structure of trimethylaluminum (other than the diborane ref)? You claim that it has 2 Al, but a google search for the CAS number gives a compound with only one. If you're right please give the proper CAS number as well, otherwise I'll restore the data you changed. You could also be a bit more careful when editing tables: the infobox was left with three columns after your edit. Thanks. -- Rune Welsh ταλκ 09:13, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you for your edit, I like the new version more actually. Just keep in mind the fact that if a molecule forms a dimer that does not make it a different molecule, because the dimer is only held by intermolecular forces, as opposed to covalent bonds. Regards. -- Rune Welsh ταλκ 16:45, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Bithoor
hi, I am sorry for responding to your message so late - actually, I wanted to expand the article a bit on that date - but, could not find time. Meanwhile, I found someone has place a lot of materials, almost word-by-word from links which I have indicated in the talk page of the article. I am trying to re-word. Thanks for your interest. I am sure this place still exists - and, you know mythology is after all mythology. Have a nice time. --Bhadani 16:11, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] User:202.65.191.134
Hi, I had this user on my watchlist, and I saw that you decided to warn him about advertising on Wikipedia. It turns out that after further review, this user has been cutting and pasting his articles. Just wanted to let you know. ErikNY 18:56, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for the User Page
Thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia and creating a User Page for me. I'm glad you find my pages about Guam useful. Please give me any tips to help me with editing and creating articles.
