Drake Sather (19592004) was a stand-up comedian and Emmy nominated television writer. His credits include Zoolander, Saturday Night Live, Dennis Miller Show, Ed and NewsRadio.

Sather was born on May 24, 1959, in Seattle, Washington. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on The Larry Sanders Show. Sather wrote for Saturday Night Live during the 1993-1994 season. His last credit was a television remake of Mr. Ed for which he was also an executive producer.

Sather died of a gunshot wound at age 44 on March 3, 2004, and his death was ruled a suicide. Sather reportedly was distraught over marital problems[citation needed]. He had four children.

The coroner's report described several notes written to police officers, coroners, and crime scene staff above the bed where his body was found. Some were humorous musings about suicide and the end of life[citation needed].
