Drake Parker

Drake Parker is a semi-fictional character from the Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh and is portrayed by Drake Bell.

[edit] Character Information

Drake shares a bedroom with his stepbrother Josh, and sometimes blame each other into various schemes launched by Drake's sister, Megan Parker. Drake currently does not work, and appears to have a habit of "collecting" as many girlfriends as possible.

Even though he has poor grades in all of his subjects, it has been implied that Drake has an aptitude for math; he received a 87% on his algebra test (after studying past 2 AM). In addition to this, Drake managed to calculate how long they could ride the Demonator and get home before their parents in the episode The Demonator (when asked by Josh how he could figure that out and still be failing math, Drake replied, "Because this is important."). This suggests he could do better in school, if he only deemed it important.

Drake can speak French fluently and knows some words in Italian and Spanish. He is shown to be a good artist (mainly little cartoon sketches of Mrs. Hayfer suffering from some accident that could be fatal). Preferring to just relax and play his guitar, Drake does not bother to put any effort into his studies, or much of anything else, including mispronouncing "America" as AH-mar-EE-kah and coming up with medical excuses featuring impossible medical problems (such as "twisting his liver" so that he could no longer read, write, or bathe) and ridiculous final signatures (such as Bob the doctor). Drake is known to act out and initially he rarely got caught, but since the episode Dune Buggy he has been grounded numerous times (yet in "Steered Straight", it is implied that grounding does him and Josh no good). Drake always wants most of the action. When he thinks there's a burglar in the house he uses a golf club and gives Josh a sprayer that makes things smell like a "nice spring meadow."

Drake is shown as a "typical teenager"; he does not know what a transcript is, where Vietnam is, where Switzerland is, that Rome is in Italy (and not Romania), what dehydrated means, that there even is a New Jersey, that there even is a New Hampshire, that you can't stop rain, that a ham radio is not made out of ham, that impersonating means pretending, that sushi and Mexican food are not American things, that fell is the correct past tense of fall (and not falled), that consuming means eating, what a primate is, how to pronounce fuselage, how to pronounce cone, what a pacifist is, what a sibling is, what a Caucasian is, what the sound of a humpback whale is, what being done with somebody means, that Neptune is the eighth planet farthest from the Sun, who Mark Twain was, the difference between cumin and cinnamon, or how to spell "television". He is also a poor driver; he had taken his driving exam six times before finally getting his license (even then was in an accident). Drake's style of clothing is peculiar. He always wears tight blue jeans, he never wears shorts (except in the theme song of season one at the end he is wearing shorts). He also never wears anything sleeveless. He'll either wear long-sleeve or short-sleeve T-shirts. Drake regularly performs and rehearses with his band (he plays lead guitar). His favorite band is the fictional Zero Gravity, whose lead singer Devin Malone he met backstage at one of the group's concerts. In the episode Paging Dr. Drake, he claimed that Josh's foot "looks like Mom's meatloaf", after shooting him with a potato launcher he bought at the store.

Strangely, Drake didn't seem as dim-witted earlier in the series. Drake is known to call Eric "Craig" from time to time, and in episodes like "Josh is Done" he repeatedly calls Josh, asking him to play Ping Pong, and in "We're Married", Drake kept calling Josh to fetch him a can of soda. But Josh got confused when Walter called, thinking it was Drake, which caused Josh shouted insults to Walter. Also recently Drake has been calling Walter by his first name instead of formal or respective titles like "Dad". He probably does this out of disrespect (such as in "The Wedding", when Walter annoyingly honks the horn.), but will call him Dad usually when he wants something.

[edit] Trivia

Drake is always curious if they have an Old Hamsphere or an Old Jersey (which technically is correct because Hampshire and Jersey are both places in England). Hampshire is a county, while Jersey is part of the Channel Islands.
