Draaga appeared in Superman #28-32 in the 1989 storyline "Gladiator" , in which Superman is pit up against Mongul's most fierce opponent in a contest on a desolate planet called "The Great Games."

Superman, who beats Draaga, is pit up against Mongul and wins both times. Draaga later appears in the Panic in the Sky storline where Draaga is employed by Maxima to destroy Superman. Here Superman is actually the Matrix who loses by Draaga on an asteriod and the second time Draaga loses on Warworld in a contest held by Brainiac. Later Draaga joins Superman in the fight against Brainiac to regain his honor. He is killed jumping into an organic anti-matter doomsday device created by Brainiac and is buried along with Cleric, on the asteroid of which he first encountered Supergirl and where Cellkeeper remains to guard. The shapeshifter honors draaga for the rest of the battle against Brainiac by adapting his form.

Draaga appears in the Superman episode, "Warworld" in which he plays a more prominent role as a contest gladiator. He is voiced by William Smith.
