Dr. Ox's Experiment is a short novel by the French writer and pioneer of science-fiction, Jules Verne, published in 1872. Titled in French, Une Fantaisie du Docteur Ox, describes an experiment by one, Dr. Ox and his apprentice. In an unusually stuffy town in the mountains, Dr. Ox begins to surruptitiously pump a gas through a network also connecting the gas lamps resulting in the townspeople becoming more lively and acting younger and younger.
