DR-1 is a four-lane, divided highway in the Dominican Republic and runs from Santo Domingo to San Fernando de Monte Cristi passing by important cities like Concepción de la Vega and Santiago de los Caballeros and other cities like Bonao and Villa Altagracia. DR-1 is commonly called Autopista Juan Pablo Duarte shortened to Autopista Duarte. This is the longest highway and the most efficient in the country because it connects the two largest cities, Santiago and Santo Domingo.
