Template talk:Dp

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Allows insertion of the correct dwarf planet reference without needing to remember the minor planet number.

so Ceres gives Ceres (Ceres)

Pluto gives Pluto (Pluto)

Eris gives Eris (Eris)

As of 20 September 2006, the article concerning Pluto is at Pluto, whereas the other two lie at <Minor Planet Number> <Name> so the template is not currently needed for Pluto, but will still work.

Many other objects are dwarf planet candidates; in the mean time - all numbered and named objects in Category:Trans-Neptunian objects are available, plus 1 Ceres

Ceres = Ceres (dwarf planet)
Chaos = 19521 Chaos
Varuna = 20000 Varuna
Ixion = 28978 Ixion
Rhadamanthus = 38083 Rhadamanthus
Huya = 38628 Huya
Quaoar = 50000 Quaoar
Deucalion = 53311 Deucalion
Logos = 58534 Logos
Sedna = 90377 Sedna
Orcus = 90482 Orcus
Pluto = Pluto
Eris = Eris (dwarf planet)

Excellent work - consistant use of this will let us easily track any changes of consensus as to the preferred link. Adam Cuerden talk 09:58, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Added the remaining Asteroids once considered planets:

Pallas = 2 Pallas
Juno = 3 Juno
Vesta = 4 Vesta

Someone edited the template to allow other words to be entered into the template;

So Eris produces largest dwarf planet, i.e. largest dwarf planet
