Dowra

Dowra (Irish: An Damhshraith ) is a small village in the north-west of County Cavan, Ireland. The part of the village which is located in County Leitrim , is know as Kilmore. It is the first village on the river Shannon. The source of the River Shannon, known as the Shannon Pot is close by. The Cavan Way starts in the village. The Leitrim Way also passes through the village.

The village was formed in the late 1800s after another village close by, Tober, was washed away.

The remains of the Black Pigs Dyke can be seen outside the village.

Its main industry is agriculture. Dowra has a livestock mart.
