Down the Rabbit Hole and Back Again (Japanese: 「骨喰いの井戸からただいまっ!」 - Honekui no kara de Ido Tadaima!) is the third episode of the anime series InuYasha. It was first broadcast in Japan on October 30, 2000 and after in the United States on September 14, 2002.
InuYasha, furious at the scattered Shikon no Tama, barks at Kagome who is holding only one piece of the jewel inside Kaede's house. Kaede calms them down and announces that the two of them will need to work together to recover all the shards of the Shikon Jewel as soon as possible. The power of the Shikon Jewel is so great that if a single shard falls into the hands of someone evil, it is "all it could take is the wrong one hand to bring disaster".
Kagome frets about if she will ever be able to go home and worries about how to get along with InuYasha. Meanwhile, Kaede convinces InuYasha that it is wiser that they work together and he agrees only because he will put up with anything (specifically Kagome) to obtain the jewel. His attempt to put up with her does not help when he sees Kagome dressed as a miko and finds himself immediately reminded of her similarity to Kikyo.
Kagome's resemblance to Kikyo proves to be too unsettling for InuYasha. When Kaede leaves to help a villager, Kagome and InuYasha wind up in an argument and she leaves him to return to the Bone Eater's Well. Kaede finds the villager's daughter, who is unconscious and suddenly attacks her mother and Kaede.
Kaede's warnings of evil hands desiring the Shikon Jewel manifest in the form of Yura of the Demon-Hair, the first of many demons seeking the Shikon Jewel. Yura has used her hair to control the villagers and has them fight Kaede and InuYasha, who has arrived to fight and has convinced himself he does not need Kagome's help.
Kagome, at the Bone Eater's Well, is confronted by Yura, who attacks her and takes Kagome's single jewel shard with some disappointment that it is not the whole jewel. Kagome ends up falling down the well and finds herself back in her own era, where she is greeted by her grandfather and Sota.
InuYasha covers Kaede with earth and leaves to protect her, reassuring her with a promise to return. At which, Kaede reveals that Kagome, like herself, has the ability to see both Yura's hair and also Shikon Jewel shards. She says that to emphasize the need for teamwork between InuYasha and Kagome. InuYasha begins fighting Yura, who now wants his head in order to obtain his unusual silver hair. While he manages to avoid death, InuYasha finds he is unable to fight Yura because he cannot see the hairs she controls. He decides to get Kagome's help.
The fight continues in the next episode -- Yura of the Demon-Hair.
