"Down" is the third single from Blink-182's 2003 Blink-182 album. It was released in June 2004. The song peaked at #10 on the Billboard Modern Rock charts, but quickly fell off and was a mixed success. According to Tom DeLonge in the liner notes of the album, the song came from a picture he had in his head about a girl and a boy in a car with it raining outside (hence the 'Down, Down, Down' chorus) and how much the boy wants to kiss her and make her stay (another reason many suspect for the chorus.)

It is also Mark Hoppus' favorite song off the untitled album.

The song has been played live by DeLonge's band Angels and Airwaves as an intro to their first single The Adventure.

Travis Barker recorded the video with a broken foot.

During an e-mail interview, Mark Hoppus was asked about how he felt that Tom Delonge had been performing 'Down' at Angels and Airwaves concerts. He had stated, "Tom can play whatever he wants as his shows. It is his right. Any band in the world can play any music they wish at their shows. That being said, I think it is in poor taste that he plays Blink-182 songs at his shows. It is disrespectful to the fans. It is disrespectful to the legacy of Blink-182. He quit Blink-182. How are you going to quit a band and then play that band’s songs at your shows, and keep a straight face doing it? Travis and I could tour as Blink-182 if we wished. We could hire a new guitarist and hit the road. It would be our right, since Tom quit. Of course we have no plans to do that. Blink-182 was the three of us. The whole thing would be very disingenuous. Me Rikey Smarr Asian dick"
