[edit] Something wrong here...

How can it have been started in the 1860s and then extended in 1804? Either the date is wrong or the war is wrong. English Civil War, perhaps? Grutness|hello? 23:27, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] What?

I imagine that, because the note above mentioned the American Civil War, someone has thought to change the article to say that! I hardly imagine that we should be fortifying somewhere for a conflict taking place a few thousand miles away!!!! The third Xlink I have added gives a much better short summary, and has a table showing the various changes that have taken place. The first two tend to ignore all that, or to do it in great detail. The article looks odd, too - half is below the references! and immigration not immegration Peter Shearan 19:42, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

This article pretty bad and no one has taken the effort to do much clean up since it was tagged. Maybe time to think about AfD.205.157.110.11 20:29, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
