Dovonte Edwards

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dovonte Edwards (born October 17, 1982), sometimes referred to as Devonte, is an American football cornerback.

Edwards played college football at NC State and was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2005. Edwards worked his way up the depth chart at cornerback and saw his first major action on November 21, 2005 at Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. He played extremely well, intercepting one of Brett Favre's passes that he took back 51 yards for a touchdown. Dovonte was a major reason the Vikings were able to release Ken Irvin and sign a third quarterback, J.T. O'Sullivan, when Daunte Culpepper was lost for the season. Dovonte should remain an important member of the secondary for the Vikings while he brings good speed to the team and will look to contribute on special teams and at defensive back in 2006.
