Dougall Parkway is a municipal freeway in Windsor, Ontario, acting as an extension of Dougall Avenue to lead traffic heading towards downtown into the city center, and to the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.

This road has quite a coloured history, having been part of Highway 3B from 1935 to 1975 (becoming a connecting link until 1998, when it was fully decommissioned). This road was the original alignment of Highway 401, and served as the freeway's western terminus until 1964, when it was re-routed to meet Highway 3, to the south.

Many maps also incorrectly listed this road as a part of Highway 3B and Highway 401 (two freeways with the same designation merging as they head east). This is erroneous, as Dougall Parkway lost its designation of Highway 401 in 1964, and then 3B's in 1975. The road did have the unsigned secret designation of Highway 401A, however, until 1998.

[edit] Description

Until 2005, the road's pavement was in absolutely horrible and dangerous condition, but has since been completely rehabilitated and repaved by the City of Windsor, and is now in excellent shape. The road has relatively average traffic levels, and its newly-built interchange with 6th Concession Road helps to serve the neighbourhoods of South Windsor and Southwood Lakes.
