Doug Janik (born March 26, 1980 in Agawam, Massachusetts) is a professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL. Janik was drafted 55th overall in the 2nd round by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Tampa Bay Lightning on June 6, 2006. He plays an overall smooth and steady game along the blueline, which makes him an appealing defenceman, but however his lack of offensive capabilities restricts him from developing as a well-rounded player.
In his first season with the Tampa Bay Lightning he writes a blog on their offical website as an insight to the life of a rookie in the NHL
