[edit] Biography

Formed in 1981 in Zurich, Switzerland the band consisted of Felix Haug (drums and keyboards) and Kurt Maloo (guitar and vocals) and an unknown bass player. Despite their relative success with the release of a song titled Rhythm Walk and several appearances around Europe in music festivals and a recording with Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera the trio decided to discontinue the use of their bass player due to unclear legal circumstances and decided to switch back to a duo and as a consequence changed their name to Double in 1983.

Before releasing any albums the newly found duo issued several continuous singles, amongst which Nannigo, Rangoon Moon, and Woman of the World where the most popular. The high point of the band's career however, came in 1986 with the release of their first full length album, which was titled Blue and contained two of the band's earlier singles and their smash hit "Captain of Her Heart", which was an immediate success in Europe and eventually reached the United States at the end of the year, peaking at number 16 on the charts.

Despite releasing another album after Blue the band failed to retain the success they had achieved with "Captain of Her Heart". The new album, which was titled Dou3le along with its most famous song "Devil's Ball", was unable to replicate their success and was almost immediately forgotten. Due to these circumstances, both members decided to split and disbanded in 1987.

After the disbandment of Double Kurt Maloo engaged in his own solo career, in which he released two albums and is now preparing to release one for the first time in 10 years. Felix Haug lived on for several years but died from a heart attack on May 1, 2004.

Despite their limited output however, Double's legacy lives on and still portrays worldwide fame due to their successful 1986 hit, Captain of Her Heart, which to this day continuously enjoys ample airtime in many retro radio stations and holds a guaranteed spot on any 80's music compilation.[citation needed]
