Doss High School

Doss High School is a secondary school located in Louisville, Kentucky.

Harry Doss High School is located in the southwestern part of Jefferson County, Kentucky. The school was originally proposed as Wisertown High School, in honor of the area of the county in which the school is located in. The school was built to relieve overcrowding from Butler, Fairdale, Iroquois, Pleasure Ridge Park and Valley High Schools. The building opened in approximately 1966 at 7601 Saint Andrews Church Road. Until the early 1970s Doss had Junior and Senior High classes within the building.

In the earlier 1990s, the New gymnasium was added to the Physical Plant. Also during the 1990s as the Jefferson County (KY) Public Schools moved their Vocational Education Programs into the local high schools. Doss became the recipient of three magnet programs: Cosmotology, Early Childhood Education, and Pre-Engineering. Currently Doss has six magnet programs: Banking and Financial Services, Education and Early Childhood Education, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Music Concentration, Pre-Engineering, and Sports Medicine.

The school athletic complex has three gymnasiums with the main Gymnasium, the Leon Mudd Athletic Center, which seats a maximum of 1,800 people Also, the Hayward Shartzer Stadium, the football stadium with a running track, which seats a maximum of 2,500 people.It is used by the school football team, the Doss Dragons, as well as the Louisville Bulls Mid Continental Football League team. Also within the athletic complex are a baseball and softball fields and tennis courts.
