Dosinia subrosea (Gray, 1835) |
Dosinia subrosea, or the fine dosinia, is a bivalve mollusc of the family Veneridae, endemic to New Zealand. It is found around the North Island in shallow water on coastal beaches.
The shell is rather large, solid, moderately inflated, but slightly winged posteriorly. The concentric ridges are fine, flat-topped, at about 20 per cm.
Coloration is white or light yellowish-brown externally, and dull white internally.
Height is up to 52 mm, width 56 mm, and thickness 26 mm.
