David Arquimides Ortez (born on November 21, 1984) was the first son of Arquimides Ortez and Blanca Loza, who were Salvadorean Political refugees from the Civil War that plagued El Salvador during the Republican President Ronald Reagan.
Ortez was born in Houston, Texas on an early Wednesday morning before Thanksgiving. Ortez went to Woodrow Wilson Elementary School from 1989-1995, Sidney Lanier Middle School from 1995-1998 and Mirabeau B. Lamar High School from 1998-2003. Ortez met childhood friends, Jose Olmedo, Roberto Torres, Chidi Odili and Chris Nguyen during this time span. He also grew to love politics and graphic design. Upon graduation, Ortez went to the University of Texas at Arlington (2003-2004) for one year under the Coordinated Admissions Program (C.A.P.) offered by the University of Texas at Austin for students that are qualified for acceptance to the Austin campus after completing one year in a sister school and obtaining a 3.0 GPA. Ortez had no trouble achieving this goal and ended up with a 4.0 after freshmen year and the Freshmen Duncan-Robinson English Award for best Paper by a Freshmen in 2004. His paper was about the War in Iraq. He also worked for the Shorthorn, the UTA College Newspaper and recieved an Regional awards (1st) and was nominated Nationally for the best Photo Illustration for a Daily College Newspaper Cover. Ortez also met Johnatthon Cody Talley in his Government class and ended up taking many of the same classes. He would stay friends with Cody in Austin and became a roomate from 2005-2006 while living at 1901 Crossing Place #3202. Ortez began working at the Fort Worth Central Market in the Chef's Case department under supervision of Julie in September 2003. He would end up transferring to the original store in Austin. His freshman scheduled was as follows:
