Dorothy Winstone

Dame Dorothy Gertrude Winstone, DBE, CMG is a retired New Zealand educationist and academic.

The Dorothy Winstone Centre Theatre at the Auckland Girls' Grammar School in Auckland, New Zealand is named in her honour.

The theatre was built in 1988 and designed by architect Ivan Mercep. The theatre has good acoustics and sightlines and is very accessible to both hirers and patrons. It has a 791 tiered-seating auditorium. The stage is a sprung rimu stage covered with a black vinyl floor suitable for many purposes. It can be hired either on a half-hire basis for 353 seats for more intimate events, or on a full-hire basis for the full 791 capacity.

She was knighted as a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1990.
