Dorog is a small town in Komárom-Esztergom, Hungary. Dorog is an industrial city. It is located at around 47°43′0″N, 18°43′60″E.

The town instituted in 1181 (in those days it was a village). The village was consumed in the turkish invasion. The German planters and the returned Hungarians rebuilt it in the eighteenth century. The Catholic church in town was built in 1765. A big coal mine opened near the town in 1781. The first document on coal-mining was written in 1845. The development geared after that. In the settlement worked Vilmos zsigmondy, Miksa Hantken and Sándor Schmidt. All of them were mining engineers. It connected by rail with Budapest in 1895. The coal power plant built in 1906. Major public facility built in the 1920s. For example:sports-ground and bandstand in 1925,town hall in 1927, community centre in 1928, miner's church in 1928, Reformed church in 1936. Between the two wars (WW I and WW II) the development was very fast. In those days built many colony-house. 300 people from Dorog died in the second world war. Many German people relocated drastically in 1945. The coal-mining reached the max in the 1960s. Many housing estates and garden houses built in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and the most of old colonys demolished. The KÖGYÓ medicine factory (today Richter Gedeon) built in the 1960s. The coal-mining declined since 1970s. The last mine closed in 2004. Dorog gained the town status in 1984.

In Dorog are many factories and works. For example: Sanyo Hungary Ltd. (battery, solar cell and air conditioner making) Gedeon Richter Corp. (medicine making) Colgate-Palmolive Magarország Ltd. (cleaning supplies, soap, shampoo making) Novoprint Corp. (printing-office) Dorog-Esztergom Hőerőmű Ltd. (today operates with gas, coal and biomass) The town's industrial park instituted in 1999, so the unemployment is lowly. In these factorys work many people, and numbers commute to Esztergom and Budapest. The most of people work in industry, offices and shops, the agriculture is nonentity.

In the town go through the Budapest-Esztergom suburban railway, the ten highway, the 111 highway and the 117 highway (out residental area), so the city is a busy place. The ways status are good. The town's main street rebuilt in 2006.
