Users sometimes use canned warning templates, such as {{npa3}} or {{3rr}}, to attack experienced editors with whom they are in conflict. This is usually unhelpful and disruptive, and can be insulting to the user. Gently reminding users one is in a dispute with to follow policy is a good thing. Hitting them with templates designed to inform newer users about policy for the first time is not. Avoid using warning templates on experienced editors; if you must remind them of policy, customize the message specifically for the user and situation.

Slapping standard templates on the Talk pages of experienced users is widely regarded as petty and uncivil. An established editor will be aware of the policies the templates address, so a template reminding them of the policies only serves to annoy them.
