Donnie Spragan (born July 12, 1976 in Oakland, California) is an American football linebacker who is currently an unrestricted free agent.

Spragan attended James Logan High School in Union City, California, where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. In football, he won All-League honors at both quarterback and linebacker. [1]

Was a three-year letterman (1996-98) at Stanford who started each of his final two seasons Overall, started 21 of the 32 games in which he played and racked up 103 tackles, five sacks and three interceptions Was an All-Pac-10 Conference as a senior when he won the Jim Reynolds Award as the team’s most inspirational senior. Played his freshman year of 1995 at Pacific before the school dropped its football program. Appeared in nine games and tallied 20 tackles and a fumble recovery that year. Earned his degree in civil engineering.

Signed as undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints but was released after he injured his knee during pre-season. [2]

Signed as free agent with the Amsterdam Admirals, where he started all ten games and posted 44 tackles, 3,5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 5 special teams tackles. [3] Signed as free agent by the Green Bay Packers on July, 19 was released on September, 2. [4] Signed to the Cleveland Browns practise squad on October, 2, was waived from the practise squad on October, 31. [5] Signed to the Denver Broncos practise squad on December, 11. [5]

Re-signed by the Denver Broncos [5] and was active for the entire season posting 12 tackles in total of which 2 were assisted and one forced fumble. [6]

Appeared in all 16 games for the Denver Broncos, was moved to Strong Safety for the game against the New England Patriots. Posted 54 tackles in total of which 10 were assisted, 3 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 3 fumbles recovered for a total of 9 yards. [6]

Appeared in all 16 games for the Denver Broncos of which he started 14 as weakside linebacker and strongside linebacker posting a total of 67 tackles of which 22 were assisted, one sack, 5 passes defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovered. [6]

Signed a two-year deal worth $2 million with the Miami Dolphins. [7] Posted 53 tackles of which were 15 assisted, one sack, one interception, 2 passes defended and one forced fumble, appearing in all 16 games. [6]

Appeared in all 16 geams for the Miami Dolphins posting 50 tackles of which 22 were assisted, 1.5 sack, 3 passes defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovered. [6]

Miami Dolphins will not renew his contract after having signed Joey Porter [8], he's currently in talks with the Buffalo Bills. [9]
