Donisthorpe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Donisthorpe is a village in the East Midlands of England, administered as part of the Leicestershire district of North West Leicestershire.
The historic county boundary between Leicestershire and Derbyshire is the River Mease, which runs through the village, with the village centre being on the southern (Derbyshire side), forming part of an exclave of Derbyshire.
When administrative counties were set up, this exclave was considered to be part of Leicestershire.
The Derbyshire town of Swadlincote is usually given as the nearest town for the purposes of the postal service.
Donisthorpe is a very small hamlet, it has no shops, 3 pubs and DM's. DM's is the Miners Welfare, it was closed during 2005 and is hopefully opening again later this year.
