Born in 1906, Donald E. Campbell, M.D. was a physician in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, the only doctor there for decades. He was the model for the doctor in one of Norman Rockwell's most well-known paintings, "Before the Shot," done in 1958. He died in Stockbridge on May 14, 2001.
