Career Highlights

Don Pyke was born in the United States of America and played Australian Rules Football in the West Australian Football League. He is the son of former WAFL footballer Frank Pyke.

He was recruited by the West Coast Eagles in 1988 as a highly skilled, attacking, goal scoring rover and in the 90's became, under the coaching of Mick Malthouse, a player renowned for his defensive skills. Don played on the 1991 losing grand final side and the 1992 and 1994 premiership sides. He was knocked out by Gary Ablett in the early stages of the 1992 grand final but returned to play an important part in the win. Pyke and Glen Jakovich tied in the 1993 West Coast Best and Fairest. Injuries forced his premature retirement from playing in 1996.

Pyke was a director at the club for four years from 2000. He was also senior coach for the Claremont Football Club in the WAFL between 1999-2000, and is currently an assistant coach with the Adelaide Crows.
