Don Poier

Don Poier (February 24, 1951January 21, 2005) Don Poier was a play-by-play announcer who spent more than 20 years announcing regional telecasts of Pac10 football and basketball. He joined the Vancouver Grizzlies orginization during their first year in the league. Poier gained national recognition as the voice of EA Sports NBA Live video game from 1999 through 2003. After spending three seasons doing radio play-by-play announcing, he was promoted to television play-by-play for the 2004-2005 season.[1] On January 21, 2005, The Grizzlies were playing an away game in Denver when Poier was found dead before the game in his hotel room. It is still unknown how he died, but many speculate that it was a heart attack.[2]
