Don Brankley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Don "Branks" Brankley (born in Capreol, Ontario) is the team trainer for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. He is the only trainer that the Knights have ever had, and was hired directly out of Laurentian University in 1970. During his 36-year career he has made countless friendships with Knights past and present and is revered as an icon in the city of London. He is somewhat less popular in opposition cities (particularly in Windsor, where he is often taunted with shouts of "Waterboy"). Brankley worked with the Canadian World Junior team in the 1980's and was once offered a job by the New York Islanders organization, but turned it down to stay with the Knights. He won a Memorial Cup as a member of the Knights organization in 2005.
