Domra (домра) is a long-necked Russian string instrument with three or four steel strings and a round resonator. It is thought that it was brought to Russia with the Mongolian invasion in the 12th century. The domra was redesigned in 1896 by Vassily Vassilievich Andreyev. No exact descriptions of the original instrument remain.

Today the domra is played with a plectrum, and is often used to play the lead melody in Russian balalaika ensembles.

Tamara Volskaya is considered to be one of the leading contemporary performers on the domra. She is a Merited Artist of Russia, a Laureate of the USSR competition, and a Professor at the Mussorgsky Ural State Conservatory of Yekaterinburg, Russia.
